If someone is happy trucking along at an absolute maximum of 60 or 70mph I have no idea why they would want to buy a 400hp Porsche....
I am happy trundling along at an indicated 71mph and bought a 354 bhp Porsche for it's gearbox, ride, handling, comfort and refinement.
PMG I agree
Me too.....my boy racer days are a LONG time in the past 🤣🤣

Me too, but I won't confine the reasons for buying it to those quoted. She's 27, more of a maniac than me behind the wheel and what's the issue with a "UK road" it was three lanes wide and I don't recall there being any overtaking, snow, bridges/gantries or junctions involved.

The issue with a 'UK road' is that the maximum speed limit is 70mph. Leaving aside whether it was unsafe or not, you said we won't find it on youtube but you've told us on an open forum where it was, when it was, what car it was, that there was an adult witness and, assuming your avatar is you, identified yourself. You probably would have pinged an ANPR camera and the induction hoops set in the road surface would have recorded your speed and probably would have set off an alert in the nearest control room. Had a patrol car been in the vicinity it almost certainly would have pursued you. If the local Police force had wanted to they would easily have been able to trace you and knocked on your door very soon. Courts have often applied a significant ban for that sort of speed.

I'm not passing judgement here on anyone but just saying that like it or not, Big Brother is watching us and the technology is out there to enable the enforcement agencies to act if they choose to.

They can barely afford to put tarmac down let alone “induction loops”, whatever they are… 😂

Look for rectangles cut in the Tarmac with two lines going off to a cabinet at the roadside. They are very frequent and are used mainly to monitor traffic flow.

My understanding is that APNR cameras only record the last three characters of a number plate for comparison with the next ANPR camera to measure traffic density and overall average speed. The data captured is not retained. However why would they only capture the last 3 characters if they say they are not retaining the data ?

I think the most important thing we need from all of this is -
Is your daughter married?
We need picture evidence that she actually exists. A beach holiday snap will be sufficient 👍🏻

ANPR cameras do not record speed.

In general terms, the aim of ANPR is to:

• reduce crime and disorder
• increase detection rates and the likelihood of positive criminal justice outcomes
• deter terrorism
• promote public reassurance
• enhance intelligence
