Which was words to the effect that I’d had seven BMWs in succession but had just bought a Porsche because the new designs at BMW were not just ferociously ugly but distinctly chavvy to boot.GeeRam wrote: ↑Fri Jul 14, 2023 11:04 pmIndeed, BMW have completely lost the plot now as regards their 'house styling'........
Clearly, they are leaning their designs more and more to appeal to the new markets, like China, rather than home European markets, hence the awful styling, which seems to appeal to Chinese taste (or rather lack of)

Any EV on sale today will be old tech in 3 years time. It's why second hand EV values are dropping. Apart from the fact private buyers don't want them.

I wouldn’t mind taking the Cyber Truck for a ride, when it gets the gen-3 solid-state batteries (same tech as Toyota ref above)
We have BMW iX1 full EV for short run abouts, it’s not particularly pretty, it is comfortable and well made, but the range is only ~200mi. Actually 230mi in summer and 190mi in winter.
For me, to replace petrol, the EVs needs to double the range to 400mi, with smaller/lighter power-pack. In the meantime I will use well-subsidised EV for short distance driving.
