Didn't that get beaten by the Fiat AWD?

I drove today a friends Alfa Stelvio 2.0 petrol with 280 horse powers.
The car was about €15,000 cheaper here in Austria than my Macan SD having more extras than my Macan.
The interior is about the level of the Macan with a little bit more plastic here and there. The cockpit & infotainment is clearly superior compared to Macans. only thing I didnt like was the lack of a touch screen. everything is controlled using a central knob.
when it comes to engine power on paper the stelvio has about 20 hp more than my Macan. stelvio accelerates 0-100 km/h in 5.7 s whereas the Macan on paper needs 6.3.
to be honest: for me it is clear that those numbers are not right. My Macan feels much more powerful and acceleration in sport+ is far quicker than Stelvio in race mode. It was interesting for me to see how characteristics of a diesel engine is different to that of a petrol engine with same horsepower. guess this is what people mean when saying a diesel hp is different to a petrol hp.
the biggest difference is the steering. it is much more direct and sensible than the macans, could be interpreted as nervous. Macans brakes are superior.
nevertheless. stelvio is really a great car
we should also not forget that the 500 hp stelvio engine is a ferrari engine.

Ferrari engine ....... does that mean that the Stelvio is for occasional use only?
Not to mention three figure costs for a set of spark plugs!

I'm not that surprised. Porsche performance figures are usually pretty conservative and diesels are usually quicker in the real world with similar peak power. 20 hp is not really enough of an advantage. How do they compare on weight as that is the other primary factor when it comes to acceleration.mschaffl wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 2:06 pm

Called in at the Fiat/Alfa dealership this morning (coexists with Volvo) to look at the Stelvio.
They did not have one in the showroom but I saw an SUV outside and went out to have a look.
Quite impressed from the side but then I noticed something was not quit right, it was an X500.
