I know the iPhone 6 can sit in the centre armrest cubby hole quite nicely but I have the Cyclops App which, given that the impression of speed is not linked to what the digital speed seems to say, I deem to be important. One thing I don't want is a windscreen mount with a lead trailing up the dash...

I've tried resting the phone in the drinks holder but it is way out of the sight line so I am going to experiment with a few solutions to see which works best.

The first is a cheap sticky gel pad, cut to size, which is now on top of the smokers pack lid. The idea is that the screen is 'just' visible to see what the Cyclops is showing.

It does look pretty cheap and nasty.

I also know that these pads are cheap and prone to melt in higher cabin temps..... It should mean that the phone stays put and the lead will just run from inside the armrest to the bottom of the phone.

The other options will be 360deg magnetic mount, stuck by a 3M pad somewhere, or a Sugru derived affair.

In previous cars I have used the Brodit Proclip mounts which provide a nice secure mounting point for their device holders. I haven't got one for the Macan as I am keeping it in the central armrest, but based on mounts I had for my Evoque and then BMW i3 I would certainly recommend them.

+ 1. I use Brodit for my Golf. They do one for the edge of the Macan centre console.

Have a look at this mount, no damage to lids or vents as this one fit in a drinks holder pocket.

That's a good idea too, not sure about taking up one of the cup holders, but may be worth considering. Thank you!

There's a picture of SilverTurfer's Brodit mount at the foot of this page: http://www.macanownersclub.co.uk/forum/smartphone-cup-holder-mount_topic3355_page2.html

Re Phone Holder / Brodit

I put my current iPhone in the arm rest cubby, bluetoothed to the car and plugged into usb.
However I use my old iPhone with Tom Tom, which often works better than the Macan sat nav!
I use this brodit bracket and an adapted phone holder from Amazon (much cheaper than the brodit phone holders I usually use).
The set-up masks the passenger heater controls slightly, but most of the time I'm on my own Smile
Bracket is removable and won't leave a mark...

PS I trail a black usb iPhone charging cable from the rear cigarette lighter, fitted with adaptor, alongside between the passenger seat and tunnel, and it pops up near the TomTom phone, so not unsightly (to me...)

It does look like the Brodit is the way ahead and good idea with the old phone, hadn't thought of that. I wonder if I can get the Cyclops onto my old iPhone 4 and use it as a semi-permanent asset...? Cheers. Thumbs Up
