What Car said it's main competitor was the BMW X1, so it's smaller than a Macan. Looks better than the F-Pace on the outside but agree with Col that the grab handle isn't very good looking. Must handle badly if that's needed...

First video says Q3/X1 sized exterior with Q5 space inside... :geek:

+1. 2wd 2.0 diesel starts from under £30k. That will be a big seller.

It looks like they've finally woken up and are building cars that people will want to buy en masse and are now happily trooping on down the road after BMW, Mercedes etc. to mass market utopia.

But don't you think at least from the front it looks like a Kia.

Absolutely. The "jag enthusiast" almost killed the company - now they need a new market.

I was at the launch last night. The designer said the grab handle was part of making the driver feel cocooned like in the FType. He also said something about the lines having chicane inspired elements. I stopped listening then.

Some of the cars on display were over £55k which is ludicrous given the size. Fleet sales will be dependent on discounts - they weren't talking those last night!!

Lack of petrol models - I think only 2, with 250 or 300ps.

Emissions quite high - 180awd auto is exactly same as equivalent FPace but a smaller car. Both much higher than a 530d MSport...

They need to sort reliability - I know of more than one FPace returned as faulty.

Pete Tong's set was quite good and Raye was singing. Nope I had no idea either but youngsters who I sent video too were impressed. Women were more impressed with David Gandy though...

Haven't managed to blag a ticket to Velar launch event in Vienna on Sunday night till Tuesday though...

As we know, one can go mad with speccing a Porsche too! ;)

I very much doubt that many will be ordered at a £55k spec. I do think they'll sell lots around the £30k to £35k mark, including a few carefully chosen options.

Talking of the Q3, to which this is a direct competitor, I walk past a stunning 17 plate one on the way to work every day. A dark grey, like VG, with large, maybe 20" wheels, that look a bit like Sport Classics from a distance. The best looking Q3 I have yet seen.

Jag have got to pay the wages and make profits so like all car makers they are getting stuck into the SUV market. Plenty of choice for us buyers.

And that's exactly why it doesn't attract me. Unless it was exceptionally good - but then again...!
