Interesting, mainly from the perspective that they are prepared to talk openly about the possibility of ditching diesel. So does a Macan SD become a depreciation disaster or appreciating classic?

I think it's a sign that the manufactures are realising that it will be impossible to make diesels meet emissions regulations now that all the clever little loopholes they have been using are being closed. I saw a story yesterday where Mercedes are offering programme modifications to some of their diesels to correct emissions issues.

The wording from Reuters is interesting. My emphasis.
The group will decide whether to keep producing diesel vehicles by the end of the decade, Blume said.
So the group is VAG, no?

Also the wording strongly hints that they will make a decision by the end of the decade, not ditch by e end of the decade.

Poor reporting and reposting, etc.

Stopped developing.....but not producing.

There's plenty of scope for exporting to China and India etc for many decades yet. Just look at what is currently sold in those markets....not sure if they are at EU4 or EU5 currently?

Such a decision from Porsche would appear to correspond with 1) rumours that they may be leaving the WEC and 2) them having meetings with the Formula E people.

The rumours are about leaving LM P1. There's still LM GTE Pro.
No rumour about WEC except the one you just started :)

True but as LM P1 is the flagship the idea of Porsche leaving, especially not long after Audi's withdrawal, is viewed as a potential disaster. Akin I guess to Ferrari et al leaving F1.

Yes, but it's still not true.
Sometimes reality is more interesting :-)

Porsche gradually phasing out diesel over the next decade seems reasonable enough given their sporty end of the market. But the reality appears to be that they aren't even going to make a decision either way until 2020, so not much of a story yet!

Audi going all electric any time soon has got to be nonsense unless they want to disappear from mainstream car production!
