The D5 is actually quite a cool (geek alert) engine, with its compressed air primer for the turbo

Pisses all over Audi diesel tech in the Macan.
Used to have 2016 Macan Turbo PHCKCL70
Previously a 2014 Macan Turbo.
Now a 2021 Tesla Model 3 LR

 but realistically the D5 is a better proposition for me, and yea, for that reason, it's a no.

If only the stonking V8 diesel from the Panamera SD could be shoe-horned into the Macan...

...or even the new Cayenne... 8-)

Sounds like they got 31 mpg when thrashing it, which isn't actually all that bad. From reading various other reviews it appears that you can realistically expect 40-50 mpg on typical short journeys and over 100 mpg in town. Only long trips with a flattened battery would be a problem or when seriously caning it.

More concerning to me are the reports of sloppy handling, lifeless steering and grabby brakes. I'm testing an XC60 this afternoon, so I'll get to judge for myself if it's acceptable or not. The old XC60 failed my test on the road for wallowing around too much. It was like driving a boat.

When you test drive the XC do take note of the mileage and note that if the brakes are grabby then remember just how grabby Macan brakes are when new.

After the XC90 T8 drive (weird firm sponge feel on the brake pedal, but actually ok/progressive) and then jumping back into my Macan, I found the Porsche very grabby. Just goes to show that it doesn't really matter how grabby the brakes are, you will get used to to it very quickly.

And the 90T8 had a very different brake feel to the 60D4.
