I ran a 997C4S for 4 years as my only car, it carried ski's, bikes and even the occasional ladder in all road conditions including a foot of snow!!

It could cope with 3 at a push but no way could anyone get behind my 6 foot 3 in the rear, the 991 are quite a bit bigger however and if you go for two wheel drive they actually swallow quite a bit of luggage up front.

I don't have huge budget constraints (I just like value for money) so £55k on that R8 and £30k on something practical works well for me.
But for £55k I could get a reasonable (and much newer) 981S - it won't have the power/drama/coolness of the R8, but should still be a lot of fun.
What I found running 3 cars (a 997 C4S, a classic 911 and a Qashqai) is that I ended up spending about 75% of my time driving the Qashqai, 20% in the 997 and about 5% in the classic 911. It simply wasn't worth it for me, so I sold the 997 with a view to replacing the Qashqai with something more upmarket - hence thoughts of a Macan. I kept the classic 911 as an investment and fun summer weekend car. Looks like a Volvo will be our next family car though, probably an XC60 T8 with Polestar tuning. That should make quite an impressive "Q" car too.

Very rare that I need passengers, so the rear seats would just be something for storage.
It's a shame you can't spec a C2S or C4S without rear seats and just have a stowage space. Or can you?

Respect on the bikes/ladder :)

Just the other day I was looking at a C4S with power pack that is (in my eyes), classier styling than the GTS, but GTS tech.. more expensive than the GTS though.

This, if you are curios. http://www.porsche-code.com/PJ1T8XK5
Very nice, goron. Classy and restrained in appearance, clothing significant performance. :geek:

A GTS can look classy too. This is a GTS:

And hello to Otto

Then after what I consider an extended test drive, on May 14 2016, I said hello to Otto 2.

Who knows what's next, but I still miss Florence.
Surprising how different the two Ottos look. I really like Rhodium and have occasionally toyed with a Rhodium GTS, but Otto 2 looks much nicer in that spec IMO. The VG and the Turbo wheels work well.

R8's are brilliant machines but just not "practical" enough for me right now.

Yes, a GTS 4 with the same spec is very similar, but works out about £3k more expensive. But I think if I had a GTS it would be the RWD version and that's quite a bit cheaper. It just feels wrong to take a GTS trim level then "add" lots of options to make it look like a different one. The Carrera S Powerkit makes it rather confusing!

The rear seats are easy enough to remove. The seat bases are just held in place with velcro and the seat backs just have a couple of screws. But if you simply fold down the seat backs it makes a nice big flat shelf, which is probably more practical in reality.
