Opie Oils - £77.95 for a 9 litre service pack of Mobil 1. I always provided the oil when my DB9 was serviced as it saved over £100.

Is this a legal obligation? I once had a case where an authorised dealer fitted my own sourced suspension pump on a BMW and I was surprised how easy it was organised. Saved about £350.goron59 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2017 6:24 am When you go for an oil change, you can buy the oil yourself. When you hand over the keys, insist they use it. They will then itemise only labour on the service receipt.
I've seen this happen with two other customers whilst being kept waiting in my local OPC. One of them also insisted they use the ad-blue he'd bought as he also had the pig piss warning light on.
Not all OPCs are equal, of course, but worth a punt, or at least asking in advance.

So who paid for the disposal of the waste oil and used filter? Was a compliant waste certificate obtained....? (Tongue in cheek of course....but there is a flip side!)Mistertoad wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2017 6:53 am Opie Oils - £77.95 for a 9 litre service pack of Mobil 1. The reason why I don't bother supplying my own oil is that the cost of the oil, even though inflated, is not even close to being the biggest part of the bill. Labour (and disposal, filter, as noted above) is usually the lion's share.
But then I don't waste time and money (my time is very expensive) on washing my car either

It only takes five minute to order on line and is worth doing when the car takes 12 litres and the dealer charges double the retail price

I see, so in 5 mins, I can have 12 litres of oil in my possession? There's no delivery to wait for, be in for, or anything? no time arguing with the OPC?Mistertoad wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2017 10:09 am It only takes five minute to order on line and is worth doing when the car takes 12 litres and the dealer charges double the retail price
If so, I'm sold!

You could always check with the OPC first. Delivery shouldn't be a problem, unless your front door opens on to the street and there is nowhere safe for the courier to leave it.

But, unlike yourself, many people have plenty of spare time and not so much money, hence are more inclined to spend a little of the former saving some of the latter.goron59 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2017 10:23 amI see, so in 5 mins, I can have 12 litres of oil in my possession? Do you really not wash you car or do you just get someone else to do it. (careful how you answer, you may well get expelled from the forum )
