Thanks - I wonder if I'll be able to do some sort of deal if I get the warranty extension inspection at the same time? I should probably worry about more pressing things like 'where to live' first! Potentially within striking distance of Tewkesbury ... :D

Can highly recommend Tewkesbury OPC! :)

Close to the picturesque Cotswolds, Cheltenham... And Swindon, of course!

Silver 718 Boxster 17-plate with PDK, PSE, Sport Chrono and black wheels.
Was it good? If you don't need rear seats of course.

Hi Ian. It was fun for the day. Like a little go kart compared to my Panamera. :) And the beauty of the Boxster is that (for me) it's much more fun when driving topless! ;)

However, if I reverted to a sports car in the future, I think I'd opt for the relative refinement of a 911, rather than the more 'raw' experience of having a Boxster or Cayman as a daily driver. By all reports though, if rich enough to afford a weekend toy, I think I'd go for a GT4. :)

Quite right. The oil was only 31.6% of my total oil change bill. Not worth the mucking around to try and save a few quid.

Plus, unlikely to ever get on a GT3 list if behaving like that!

On my Sep 2015 Macan SD, I had my first 'interim' service done in Aug 17 at 2yrs/11000 miles. The in-car display now says:

- (Major) Service: Aug 2021 or 40,000 miles
- (Interim) Service: Aug 2019 or 20,000 miles
- Oil Change: Aug 2019 (or in 10,000 miles)

Whereas the service book clearly states that the first 'major' service should be after 4 years. But perhaps due to my low mileage I can delay the first major service until the 6 year point, in 2021.
That does seem odd. I would have thought that your first major service would be at 4 years, so Sept 2019. :?

Maybe the service dept pressed the wrong buttons when re-programming your in-car service indicator?
I have just been having a think about this, and watched a couple of YouTube videos about the process of resetting the service indicators on Porsche - basically to see if there is room for error.

Basically the model-specific 'reset screen' shows the three service types (Major, Interim, and Oil), and the operator either selects the individual service type and then resets just this, or simply hits the 'reset all' option. I suspect that the latter happened in my case!

Interestingly, there is no 'manual' addition of 'mileage to' or 'date of' next service - the software just takes care of that - but presumably this relies upon the operator choosing the correct model/version so that the correct messages are sent to the car. If WingCo's second oil service stays at the 20,000m interval then I would be exploring the possibility of incorrect service resetting at the PDI.

I will keep an eye on it and keep you posted. Currently showing interim service in 10k miles ( at 20k covered) and next oil change in 20k miles (once the car has done 30k miles).

Maybe not a bad thing that the first oil change was at 10k miles, as a few on here have said they'd want their Porsche's oil changed after the first 10k miles (knowledgeable engineer types ;) ).

I must admit that I detected a hint of waffle from the service folks at the OPC, especially with mine being the first new Panamera that they'd had in... 🤔

My SA told me that the service interval on the 718 is 20k. However, I got a reminder from the service department saying that I need an annual check and service 11 month into ownership at 7k miles (on the 718 that is). The McCann got an oil service at 10k and a first inspection service at 20k. But as it's a high miler we felt it was worth it.

Interestingly enough, our last car was a Golf which throws on an oil light as it uses oil in the first few thousand as a matter of course. If you lift the bonnet to check, but don't actually add oil, the fact that you have lifted the bonnet turns the light off as the car assumes that you have added oil.

Happy Days, did your Macan get another oil change at 20k miles?

My OPC said that my interim service might only cost me £160 or so (normal price minus the £300 cost of an oil change).

I suppose mine is quite a high miler too. Got it on March 28th and have done nearly 10k miles in just under 7 months.

Found this gem from the Concise Household Encyclopedia for Handyman and Housewife while trying to declutter and thought things have moved on a bit from 1931.
