My Panamera has covered 9,200 miles since the end of March and this evening a warning message appeared to say that an oil change is due in 1,000 miles.
I know some owners on here choose to change oil every 10k miles, but has anyone had an electronic message to change the oil at this distance?
Maybe Panameras are different to Macans in this regard?

A quick google.
And from the service manual about 5 links down.
In my experience, VAG confuse km and miles so the numbers generally stay the same

Thanks, goron. . So for some reason, Porsche believe that the Panamera needs an oil change every 10k miles, whereas a Macan with a petrol 3.0 V6 can happily go 20k miles between oil changes... I'll speak to the OPC on Monday.

I wonder if Porsche allow a on-demand service schedule like Audi did for the R8... you have to use a different kind of oil, but it's better for the engine rather than simple for the owner.

I remember a long running thread on an American Jaguar XF forum arguing the merits of 12 month/ 24 month oil service intervals. Basically it said fully synthetic oil works efficiently for 2 years, but short stop start journeys or a dusty environment reduces the time. Old school owners swore by shorter intervals, others (experts?) reckoned fully synthetic oils don't reach full efficiency until they have been in the engine for 10k miles. Audi service intervals depend on annual mileage - over 10K qualifies for 2 year intervals, I think VW is the same and the dealer sets up the service regime in the ECU during the PDI. Normally the default is one year as it makes more money!

Check with the dealership.
The link above is a USA link which may be different.
“Variable” service intervals (ie the engine measures oil quality and flashes up at 18 - 20 K depending on driving) on VW group cars used to be the factory default with annual / 10 K option set up at PDI on customer request (or if a service plan was sold)
First fill for the majority of UK spec cars is fully synthetic long life oil.
