Have driven both and wouldn't mind either for the day, or a Cayman, or a Cayenne...

I actually drove one of those on a main road. Terrifying.
Macan SD Vocano Grey. LEDs, Pano Roof, PSE, Sports Chrono, PASM, Sports Design Mirrors, 21" Sports Classics in Black, lots of other extras.

987 Boxster 2.7 (2006)
I got a Boxster the first time mine was in at Hatfield OPC.
Second time it was a poverty spec Macan SD, and I mean poverty, it had no options I could spot apart from a pano roof.
Glad to see the back of that one.

You need to cross post this to the "Crap" thread
My first loan car at East London was a boggo Boxster (pre 718). It was ok - at least it had a characterful engine.
Didn't feel quite as much as a hairdresser as I did when I was loaned a TT from Audi.
Since then I've taken the sensible approach and not asked for a loan car.
Used to have 2016 Macan Turbo PHCKCL70
Previously a 2014 Macan Turbo.
Now a 2021 Tesla Model 3 LR

I quite enjoyed the Boxster, mine was pre 718 too. I wouldn't buy one but I very much enjoyed thrashing it around.goron59 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2017 6:12 amYou need to cross post this to the "Crap" thread

I always book services for a Friday and then if the loaner is any good I tell them I have a late meeting and I'll bring it back first thing Monday morning.
Especially useful if I have a wedding somewhere miles away to go to.

I had a pre 718 Boxster S loan car for several days while the Cayenne was being PDI'ed. It was specced up to the eyebrows with a price of £78k.
For some strange reason no seat heating was fitted.

And the winner is... Arif!
A nice silver 718 Boxster with PDK, PSE, Sport Chrono and heated seats! I am missing the heated multi-function steering wheel though. Feels like a go kart in comparison to my Panamera. Not surprising, a lot more snug and a bit lower. Less refined than my car, but then they are at opposite ends of the Porsche range. A wind-in-the-hair two seater, open top sports car and Porsche's most comfortable & refined cruiser. Not sure that I could live with the Boxster as a sole car, but fun for the odd day or weekend. With top down and in Sport, or Sport Plus mode it is an animal. If buying a Cayman or Boxster, don't think I'd pay the extra for the S, as the basic 718 (to me) has more than enough poke for a lightweight two seater.
Great fun and will have done over 100 miles in it today, mostly with the top down.

I agree that silver is nice, but am not 100% convinced on the plain black wheels. I am not overly impressed with the noise.
Not as nice sounding as my 991.1 C2, my Panamera or a pre-718 Boxster that I borrowed previously from Tewkesbury. But they are 6 cylinder and/or naturally aspirated.
The 718 does sound a bit better with the Sport Exhaust turned on, but nothing like the delicious pops, crackles and burbles that I had with my 911.
