Did I hear that The Budget might contain £400m or so towards increasing the number of charging points? :geek:

If Lancashire alone have budgeted 150m then 400 is not going to far. Although something is better than nothing.

What still rankles with me is that attitude or bland statement that everyone will charge on their driveway - so that will solve everything.

Glad to see Luke and Peteski have decided to stick around. Jut catching up on this thread after a week or so away.

Luke, I've never even had by backside in an EV, and I have read with remarkable interest your reviews and opinions on EV. Your mastery of English for a non-native speaker is wonderful. I find myself reading your posts in a Scandinavian accent! (Mind you, I do this with the English writers on here too in regional accents...)

Peteski, similarly I enjoy your posts and recounts about your time spent in F1 albeit a while ago. You certainly have a lot to offer and I was a little dismayed when I read (on the same page) that you were leaving.

Glad you have both decided to stick it out. Woo Hoo!

Lancashire spending £150m on EV charging stations? I must have missed that post in the multi-page EV 'discussions' ;) :?

I do not believe anyone has modelled the feasibility of installing the correct number of charging points throughout the UK, including the impact on power generation capacity when coupled with other government measures such as banning gas cookers, heating etc. Clearly battery powered EVs will have a place but whilst many may be betting on some breakthrough in battery technology , I for one would bet on a hydrogen future.

Read an interview with Jo Bamford (JCB family). It was his company that supplied all the new buses to London. In it he stated that to replace the existing London bus fleet with EV equivalents would require its own stand-alone power station! He, as I and you, also believes that hydrogen is the way to go.

I've long held the view that hydrogen is the fuel of the future. The current (!) rush for EVs will be shown to be folly in time.
