The new Roadster will feature Plaid mode, which will enable it to do 0- 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds. This will make it the world's fastest production vehicle, the company claims.

The base model of the vehicle will cost $200,000.

OMG that has to be the best looking car ever.

0-60 in 1.9s and 1/4 mile in 9s (1s faster than a 918) is insane.

The specs are really mind boggling.

Tesla also announced "Mega chargers" today while presenting the new Semi Truck. So we'll probably see a lot faster charging and 200kWh batteries with plenty of range even in next gen Model S/X.

Regarding quick chargers... This is how it looks in Shanghai with 50 charge points in one place:

They have shown the actual car at its unveiling on BBC Breakfast TV.

Also an articulated Truck with a 500 mile range was unveiled, it looks like the trucks in the iRobot movie.

It looks and would appear sensational but thats some 'to do' list that's accumulating - S, 3, X, Truck, Roadster! One obvious and significant gap - School Bus!

Given the well publicised struggles with Model 3 and the huge raft if issues with X it would appear that it may be asking more questions than are currently being answered.

Question. What is US 'highway speeds' - 50 or 70?

Fantastic if it comes off. Over to you Porsche!

And welcome back, Luke.

I Love the look of it. And its a lovely Red too.. ;)

The Mega chargers they announced is a great step forward too.
Tesla do have lots of questions that need answering and more importantly they need to deliver. I hope they announce less and deliver more in the coming 12 months. :)

It will be an interesting few years.
