Well wing commander didn’t think you’d keep the T for this long, you must be getting the itch now,we’ve had our 911 991.2 4S , 2.5 years now but it’s only done 10k so probably keep it another year or so,wife Golf GTI is our daily absolutely brilliant she’s just ordered a MK8 GTI ,fortunately the 911 is in the garage with a cover on and coupled up to a C TEK ,I had a full PPF film put on it from new so the paintwork is as new, this pandemic has spoilt so much for everyone but hopefully things will improve this year, might see you on one of the Porsche get togethers that would be good,in the meantime all you PORSCHE people keep safe and here’s to better times.

Hi Steve,

Good to hear from you. Hope you’re well.

Yep, the T is coming up for its third birthday & its first MOT. Nearly 31k miles on the clock. Would’ve been 40k without Covid.

Yes, I used to have a Mk 2 Golf GTi. Fabulous car. :)

Stay safe.

My T had its major service last week. All went smoothly and I enjoyed the use of a 718 Boxster for the day 😎

But, when I picked up my T, the service guy said they’ve spotted a coolant leak, and they’d like the car back to investigate...

I am fearing it may need a new water pump, which is seemingly quite a common issue with 991.2s.

Somewhat annoying as the car is only just out of warranty...

From the Rennlist 991 forum, I see that Porsche have admitted that there’s a known manufacturing fault, and that in North America, they have extended the warranty on the water pump to 10 years.

Needless to say, should my car need a new water pump, I’ll be on to Porsche GB to request that the work is done free of charge. Surely the water pump etc used in U.K. cars are the same parts as those used in North American 911s?!

It will be pretty shabby if Porsche decide to treat U.K. customers in a less fair way than US customers are treated!!

Probably not what you want to hear, Simon, but I bet the response from Porsche will be along the lines of "sorry sir, this car has been modified and the warranty is no longer valid".

I hear what you’re saying, Peter. My car is out of warranty anyway. Am not sure how aware the service department are of my Litchfield modifications. My point is that countless 991.2s have needed new water pumps, Porsche admit to a manufacturing error, and in the US, they’ve given the water pump a 10 year warranty (similar to how Porsche GB have given the Macan transfer box a 7 year warranty).

Watch this space...

The water pump on my GTS started leaking after ten months. When it was in for repair the lift beside had another 991.2 in with the same problem.

Thanks, Rab. If repaired under warranty, then all good. Perhaps most 991.2 owners buy an extended Porsche warranty. But for those that don’t, where Porsche have admitted to a known manufacturing error, and where the same pump and valve block have been given a 10 year warranty in other territories, I’d be very disappointed if Porsche don’t do the decent thing and stump up...
