And I just wonder - is there any tap and die toolsets (like these: https://cozyhousetoday.com/how-to-use-tap-and-die-set), but not universal, and specially for 911 ?.. I think to make a present for husband, and don't want to ask him about it of course, because it should be unexpectedly. Thanks in advance.
Katie, Porsches use metric threads, mainly metric fine. A tap and die set would only be used for very in depth rebuild and maintenance and by a very experienced engineer. Maybe your husband is going to attempt a rebuild of some kind and has the skill, if so fair enough.

Katie, think I may have lost the thread somewhere (my age :( ) but I think Rab J answered your question well. If your man uses taps/dies he is probably pretty deep into what he does and there are probably no Porsche 'unique' tools that are a practical gift. Its a long shot but the item I see are used a lot on Porsche are Torx bolts, i know because I have not got a large enough one to remove the exhaust tips for polishing!! :?
They look like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/10pc-Torx-Bit- ... B007JYVHVG

If you are adventurous also used in removing the front and rear fairings for mild service work/anal cleaning tasks

(My wife bought me the Porsche extending brolly which is a perfect fit in the pocket of the drivers door [991] - may be easier  )

Good Luck :D

Simon - can i ask about the engine re-map?
On my Cayenne, I opted for TDI-Tuning. I've been very impressed with it, it's set on level 7 all the time. Fuel economy has improved as has the performance and the engine just seems to breath better.
They also do a kit for the engine in the 991.2 base carrera...lifting HP to 450 and a similar increase in torque.

What's the pro-s of a re-map v. a tuning kit such as TDI's?

Hi Neil.

No idea on pros and cons of remap versus TDI, I’m afraid. 😬

I have put my faith in Litchfield Motors. This is based on reading numerous reviews of the Litchfield Carrera T, having met Iain and driven his car. The work is being done towards the end of July. :)

Cheers,
Simon

Hey Simon

Just thought I'd check in, wondered how you were getting on with your T and the remap but see that you've not had it done yet. I drove a T the other day as it happens and thought of you, prompted me to wander back to these parts.

If you've not fixed your car's tag, get some Du Pont Prepsol (https://www.carross.eu/Produit/2883-net ... nt-5l.html). It's a bodyshop staple and works very effectively to remove this sort of vandalism.

cheers

Hi Alex

Hope you’re keeping well.

Thanks very much. The tag is pretty much invisible now, but I still need to get around to sorting out the damage on the rear bumper.

20k mile minor service due on 19th July at local OPC. Then Litchfield working on the car 22nd to 24th July.

Will update on here in due course.

Cheers,
Simon

Just testing the water on a controversial idea. Have already had ‘feedback’ from my daughters.

I saw the blue 911 below recently at Beaulieu. I was blown away by the contrast of the orange wheels with the light blue bodywork.

It has inspired me to consider getting my existing 20” Carrera S wheels painted in a more colourful hue!

Am contemplating something like the purple below.

I know it would make a statement, draw attention and split the crowd. 😬

Have I been out in the sun too long. ;)

Well, that’s a different reaction to what I got on Rennlist, but they are mostly American I guess! ;)

Cheers, Paul! 🍺
