Took car to Tewkesbury today for the swap to winter wheels/tyres.

Got a nice little Macan for the morning. 2.0, 20” Spyders, 14-ways, pano roof, Volcano Grey.

One of the rear tyres has a nail in it. :( Tyre tread depth around 3.3 to 3.5mm on rears & 5.8mm on fronts. They advised new rear tyres. 2 x Pirelli P-Zeroes N1 at £905.94 for the pair. Ouch! Just checked out Black Circles. All four Michelin Pilot Sport 4S N0 came out at £861.16!

My plan was to swap to Michelins when the Pirellis are done. Thinking of running the rears until they’re close to legal limit and then change all four tyres to Michelins...

Am thinking I could get the nail damage repaired in the meantime?

Yes in that location it should be repairable. Provided it's a "clean" nail penetration and not chewed up the inner liner of the tyre. Any reputable tyre dealer will confirm on inspection.

Blackcircles are owned by Michelin, as are ATS Euromaster. They have several branches in your area Simon and are fitting agents for Blackcircles.

I've been running on a repaired [punctured by a nail] rear tyre for the last 12000 miles.

Agree, that should be repairable and you should be able to run them down as intended. I had a big screw in my Macan tyre in that location, when new, and the repair lasted the life of the tyre.

I have the same wheels ready to go on Ruby, dressed in Pirelli Sottozero N1's. We might swap to them this Sunday.

By the way, isn't the area around Tewkesbury flooded? 🙁

I had 2 rears done at Swindon at a shade over £600 which was only £50 more than I could have got the tyres from Black Circles. Obvious complication with a GTS is the centre lock wheels but Swindon were excellent

Bummer on the puncture

I had one in my almost new tyre last week

I didn’t risk repair even though in same position as yours. This is a powerful rear wheel drive car where there is more strain on the back because of the engine etc

I got a new one from dealer for just £300.

If it was Macan I would have probably repaired but not on a high performance motor.

Agree with Tracey that a repair is highly undesirable on a high performance car
