Porsche are sending through lots of cars at the moment and there is a good chance that many build dates will get moved forward as they try and get as many cars out before factory shut down between May and September. There will be no petrol Porsches coming out of the factory (except 718 Boxster/Caymans) during that period and that includes petrol Macans, Cayennes, Panameras. There will still be diesel cars coming out of the factory.
When you talk about factory shut down, do you mean all assembly sites? The Macan, Cayenne and Panamera are all assembled in Leipzig whereas the other cars are assembled in Stuttgart. There must be something fairly dramatic going on if Porsche are prepared to lose a third of a year's production.
Yes that is my understanding - it's to reduce emissions across the range. Apparently they have increased production for the early part of the year to make up for the loss of production later in the year, although unlikely to fully make up for the loss in production during those months.

992 Turbo (July 23)

I am definitely no emissions expert, but I thought that manufacturers had to achieve a progressively more ambitious co2 g/km measure over the next few years across the range. Shutting the whole factory makes less sense to me than artificially controlling the product mix to achieve the target. If you were above target as an average but then simply don’t build any cars, the average doesn’t change?! [emoji848]

I put my sensible head on and eventually decided to pass on the PCCBs (and rear-axle steering) following your advice to keep things simple with the 911 T. Options only about 4% of the base price of the car. :)

Very wise Wing. Those both would certainly have put it into GTS territory money wise and lost the essence of the T If ever there was a less is more 911 the T is it.

Just resurrecting this bit of the thread with a quote from Fiat / Chrysler in today’s Telegraph...

Sergio Marchionne, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles chief exec, joked that he'd have to stop production if his company found itself in breach of the (CO2) figures.
“If we miss the targets, we’ll stop selling cars,” he said, “because the fines are so great – it ain’t pretty.”

😮 maybe Porsche are already there with the recent (temporary?) reduction in diesel volumes...

It would be nice to think that the reduction in diesel volumes is only temporary but it does look as if one of the really great diesel engines of recent times (the Porsche 4 litre diesel) will never be seen again. In my view that is a real shame.
