Exactly. Has little to do with personal desirability of the actual cars. FWIW (little) the C class appears to have dropped out of the 2018 top ten anway, with the BMW 3 series in at no. 8.
Only 12 days into 2018....so do you mean the 12 months of 2017? If so the BMW 3-series did drop out of the top 10 in the UK. The Merc C-Class took 9th place.
This, although not that obvious what time period it actually covers:-

Not that I would ever choose a car based on its popularity alone. People buy all sorts of shit en masse!

Not quite as bad as that but poor Mercedes quality on two successive E Classes (the second one being a replacement of the rejected first) and not liking the interior of the Mercedes ML is what got me looking at the Porsche Cayenne. I should thank Mercedes really :D

New wagon wheel styling

Oh dear!

Although Mercedes must be doing something right, as the C Class is constantly in the Top Ten of numbers of cars sold in the UK, having displaced the BMW 3 Series. Lots of company car drivers with a C Class, I would guess... :geek:
The C class is a pile of junk.

I had one for a week when the Turbo was off the road for the tyre problem.

The C class was uncomfortable, the internal materials lacked any quality, the panel fit was wide, the engine was the 2.0 litre gutless and rough 4 pot.

Best feature of the thing was it did ride very well.

Spend up to Β£8k and buy a real mercedes.. https://youtu.be/TyQXBeYwFUc
I ran a W124 300E for many years.. bullet proof (I'm 43 just in case people think I'm older..). Currently in the market for a W126 S-class 300SE as a daily runner. My mother has had a CLK350 convertible for 11 years which hasn't let her down once.. a bit of luck involved of course. Current Mercedes styling (inside and out) is horrible to say the least and won't age well..

I ran a couple of 190s and an E240 and an E320 sold 10 years ago. Since then the Cs and Es have not impressed. I always loved an S but was never going to be practical for me.
