My thoughts exactly

Take the finance and the deposit contribution and then pay it off is a tactic that you could employ

My father did that with his recent BMW purchase. Money for nothing.

I’ve just ordered a GOLF GTI for the wife ,nice spec full price of £34600,I sourced it through DRIVEADEAL who found me the Best deal from a VW dealership in Kent, they have discounted it down to £28887.45 and 18 weeks delivery,we have always paid for our vehicles but if we took out a PCP with VW FINACIAL SOLUTIONS ,VW would give a £1500 deposit contribution ,I was told by the VW dealership that after the first payment I can pay the GOLF off without them wanting the £1500 back,no brainer so that’s our intention.

I did the exact same thing with VW in Kent on our GTD. There were no issues. VWFS didn't even bother to send me a closing statement - I wanted this should there ever be any issue and the guy said to me that it isn't worth their time administering the paperwork because everyone takes the finance and then pays it off for the free money.

happy days wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2018 9:38 am I seem to recall at the time I bought my 718S a video somewhere from Porsche where the designer stated that the F6 engine would not fit in the engine bay of the 718 model. Even though there has been lots and lots of speculation over whether the GTS would have a 6 in there, it didn't. I'd be in the camp that believes that 911s will be sixes and 718s will be fours. Remember, that the 981 Cayman was seriously encroaching on base 911 performance and the 911 sells for a premium.
Isn't the Cayman GT4 is getting a GT3 derived 400bhp NA flat six? or is that just an interwebs rumour?

Very cool I guess the boot / roof storage arrangement will be different to the other 718s given no electric roof etc. Not for me though if I wanted something that impractical I'd probably get another Caterham :)

Miopyk wrote: Sun Jan 28, 2018 8:36 pm We got a "deposit contribution" when we bought our 981 Cayman back in 2015. If I remember correctly it worked out to be about 5% off so we were very happy with that and even more so that the retained value appears to be better that we thought it would be.

We've not driven a 718 but heard them and the 2 are night and day apart. We've got PSE fitted to ours and it sound spectacular at full chat. That puts a 718 out of contention as a replacement. Toying with the idea of a new Vantage but need to drive one before we go down that road.
That's what we've been saying too, 718 GTS is absolutely out of contention as a replacement for 981 GTS ....

and here we are, a few months on and seriously thinking of swapping our manual 2015 981 GTS with 26,000 miles on the clock for the new 718 GTS, despite initially rejecting OPC's advances for a buy back of the 981 GTS late last year. Told them to stop being silly!

But as you say, the value of 981 GTS has firmed up and we have quite a bit of equity in the car which would a be a shame to loose.
It is also a daily driver, not a weekend toy.

The £1,000 dealer contribution lasts till 2nd April 2018, I think.
Our stable:
- 992 Carrera T - manual - Ruby Star Neo - Carrera Excl. wheels (2023)
- BMW 240i xDrive (G42) - Portimao Blue - AC Schnitzer tune
ex: 981 Cayman GTS, Macan S Diesl, Macan Turbo, 991.2 Carrera S, 718 Cayman GTS, i30 N, 718 Cayman GTS 4.0

Surely they would be better just lowering the interest rate to be more competitive. That removes the £1000 incentive and therefore no risk of someone taking finance and paying it off just to get the free incentive.

Not that I'm thinking of getting one, but has it been established that the £1k contribution is dependant upon the buyer taking Porsche finance? :?
