Purchase 991.2 911 GTS now or wait for 992 release?

Hi guys,

I'm not long into Macan Turbo Performance Pack ownership, but having caught the 911 bug I am finding myself looking at 911 Carrera 4 GTS's non stop. I did a day at the PEC last week in one and it was simply mind blowing......I'm sold!! :D

So the question is, would you consider buying a 991.2 911 GTS at the end of this year or wait until the new 992 models are released and wait maybe a year more until the GTS models are released? Would 991 GTS prices drop much upon the release of the 992 release or would they hold the bulk of their value for a couple of years? I just don't want to commit financial suicide because I can't wait for a new toy!
First world problems I know but would value anyone's opinion ;)

I am in the same boat as you...i held off on the 991 due to the refresh, but now I’ve done it, i want the 991 now! Driven a few & found it awesome...just couldn’t persuade myself to part with the extra cash.

Thinking mildly used 991.2 next year now! 😂

Do you like the digital/haptic treatment of the cockpit/dashboard of the new Panamera and Cayenne?

If so, I'd wait for the 992.

Maybe also wait to see how the car will look once the prototype camouflage is removed. Won't be long... ;)

Depends if you want a GTS or not. If you want a GTS, I would get a 991.2 now as the 992.1 GTS will be a couple of years away. If you are happy with a standard S, then you could wait, although it is still a fair wait for RHD production and UK deliveries to actually start for the 992.

Yes I would want a GTS at least.
The release and delivery of 992 GTS models will be a while away so the 991 is soo tempting....

In the OPC today, their view was that from the front and side, 992 would be a subtle evolution as ever. They expect the rear to have a wider stance and for the interior to be Panamera inspired as above.

Whilst the 992 will likely be a great move forward as a drivers car over the 991 apparently there will be no sports exhaust option in order to help cut noise pollution and I believe the haptic controls are not going to be to everyone’s taste so would go for a GTS now. All terribly speculative of course

Spoke to my dealer about C4 GTS availability today and he said he had no build slots so far this year, only C2 GTS's.
This is a good thing for my wallet as I only want a C4 GTS! :)

I was at Porsche Mayfair today and they have Carrera T and GTS slots available although I didn’t ask whether C2 or 4. They were talking April build for May delivery.

If you want a C4GTS now - I'm sure there will be slots available somewhere. I wouldn't worry about depreciation on a GTS - hold there value pretty well as long as you don't overspec - Base + 10% max!

If it was my money and I wanted a C4GTS I'd actually buy the 991.1 C4GTS - find a lowish mileage example and that will hold even better as its the last of the NA engines and I bet in the next 4/5 years they may even start to go back up.
