Lhd vs rhd right there. Desireable cars with limited supply = good 2nd hand prices on the rhd market. The opposite is true on the standard type cars...much stringer 2nd hand values out of the uk for lhd cars.

There is more demand than supply, but less extreme than in the UK. Two things - one is more LHD supply but the other is the different dealership model. US dealers by law are able to charge over list price - so-called ADMs (additional dealer markup)...this means the dealers price at what they think is market and take the premiums that the private buyer takes in the UK. What it does mean is that demand and supply are more balanced because the buyer will be buying because they want one to drive, not for the sole reason of making a profit (which is obviously sometimes the case here). Not all dealers in the US will do this however and not necessarily to all customers, hence you still have some overs market as well on the private side, but again not to the same scale as here.

Yep, I've read on Rennlist about dealers in the US with new GT3s as 'lot cars' but the premium or mark up seems much lower than the ยฃ56k or so on the one I saw at Top555...

Which they would be given the much greater volumes that get pushed to the US. Its the same for Ferrari for example.

At least the Yanks seem to like manual transmissions more than us! From posts on Rennlist, and just generally, I gather that a higher percentage of 911s are ordered with manual transmission in the US, compared to the UK, and probably most of Europe.
