Chris and Rory are trying too hard to be stars / famous. Whereas Matt is already famous and can just be himself and get the feature across on screen. He also appears to be a genuine petrol head. Trouble is that he's bringing too many American cars into the mix
TG and GT are both now travel shows just incorporating cars and presenters' over inflated egos. Admired Chris Evan's decision that he wasn't right for the TG job.
Top Gear, Sunday 18/3/18
Love them or hate them, Clarkson, May & Hammond developed a real chemistry. They come across as three flatmates, three best buddies and drinking partners. The new TG guys just don't have that, there's an uncomfortable vibe between them that is toe-curlingly off-putting, even when the material is good. They try quite hard but they're not a natural unit. Proves how hard it is to create good chemistry for the screen. But I'll still tune in every time.

I think it was the viewers who decided Evans wasn’t right for the job!SAC1 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 19, 2018 9:00 pm Chris and Rory are trying too hard to be stars / famous. Didn't old TG do the 2CV bit as well?
I can't stand MLB and the jokes are all scripted as if they are still for the old TG trio. I agree on the 15x.

As above it’s the chemistry that is missing with the new Top Gear guys. Clarkson Hammond and May do clearly get on very well and have a great life. When I saw them live at their show a few years back even when the lights were off them they were chatting and having a good old laugh together. I suspect the current Top Gear guys would stand in a separate corner on their own.
Outside of the working environment the GT crew don't socialise at all. At least that's what JM stated on the interview I saw him do a month or so back.MCDK wrote: ↑Tue Mar 20, 2018 10:40 am As above it’s the chemistry that is missing with the new Top Gear guys.
