No being techy I have no idea what this amounts to but I thought it was relevant and of interest. I’m sure someone will have an opinion.

However good bad or indifferent the tie up is, it has to be better than Porches tie up with VTech.

I wonder how many are honest enough to say they didn’t notice the error?

Well I didn’t. I knew what was meant from the thread title and never thought another thing about it.

It's an interesting choice which might pay off but if it doesn't, it could be a serious own goal which will help Porsche sell more Cayennes!

John Chen who is the new CEO is betting heavily on software as the future of BlackBerry and in particular, he is focusing the business on driverless cars. They bought QNX a while back who specialise in embedded systems. No doubt the partnership with JLR is going to help bolster investor support for BlackBerry who the last time I heard were billions in the red. It's not hard to see how autopilot and similar features could easily be brought in off the back of this relationship in future.

I've never experienced anything that QNX have produced but the hardware will need to tie in with the software incredibly well to compete with the system I tried in the new Cayenne this week. The haptics and sensitivity are excellent and really are the benchmark in my view - whether surfaces are your thing or not, the responsiveness, user experience as well as usability are going to have to be outstanding.

I remember the McLaren 12C and how all the owners were up in arms about the first gen version of IRIS. I'd be surprised if BlackBerry delivered a bullet proof and perfect system in the first cars to receive it given the number of features they would have to include to compete in the luxury SUV sector. The extent of features and hardware integration make testing really complex.

Interesting times.

I think QNX have a little bit of experience in this matter. Their backend systems are already used extensively
