We had our first service combined with oil change today ( the computer had brought up both just short of 20000 miles.)
All carried out to a lovely standard.
Our loaner was a 718 boxster.... nearly impossible to get in and out of ( My fault ...arthritic knees.)
But the sound...just like an old Subaru, combined with a VW combi with a loose exhaust heat exchanger.
When asked what I thought, On return, I said " It sounded like a Subaru".
He said " A lot of people say that, but I love it.. ;)

No need to worry, word has it that Porsche wont be replacing the current Boxster and Cayman as they cost almost as much to produce as the 911 which there based on and sell on average for 30K less. With the next fully new 911 in seven or eight years time being based on an R8 chassis there are issues converting it into a Boxster cheaply enough. So it look like big brother VW are seeing Porsche as almost purely a SUV maker with even the 911 just a Audi clone.
