Maybe I’m showing my years but where on earth are the Mercedes design team going. Vile washed oak aside I really can’t find the cinerama, superwide screen aesthetically pleasing at all.
The car suggests the seductive but where is sensuous with that screen.

Is it me or is the dash a carefully designed mess!

At least the E class doesn't have that daft i pad stuck on top of the dash.

With the volume and spending power of baby-boomers and the like I question the wisdom of aiming at that market. Give me buttons and a proper driver-oriented office every time.

Gross.
The centre console in black looks typical of the Taxi companies ethos, in realitu it is the most vile, nasty, cheap looking material there is and is so common in their cars.
The Merc I had on loan was an interior design mess.

I must admit that I do not mind the interior at all.
As said above the stuck on iPad has gone and it's all more streamlined.
Perhaps it looks better with different choice of trim materials.

Yes you are all definitely too old...I don't like the colour at all, all the washed oak...but I like the design layout
See proper colour / trim but same design...

I had a C Class as a loaner and it was the most hateful thing I'd driven in years.
It was all made of cheapo plastic with a Poundshop iPad stuck to the dash. For some reason the seat controls are on the door as if I'd need to adjust them as much as lowering the window.
What I thought would probably change gear actually did anything but that. The gear changer was cunningly disguised as the indicator stalk.
The car had about 2k on the clock but the seats were already wearing. I know it was an Enterprise hire car, but still not good enough.
It would be a cold day in hell that I ever bought a Merc.
BigPhil.

Definitely looks better with carbon.
I saw a Merc concept yesterday - typical concept designer job - but it very much looked better in that environment - as if that was where it started and really belonged.
I think it the blingy hair dresser stuff that grates most. I’ve got a Beemer with a white interior on loan from OPC at present that looks like a pimps wheels. Mrs D seriously unamused.
Ed. Having said it looks better I still think it’s a cop out solution. Very little consideration and as has been said aimed at the aspirational iPod generation.
