I was lucky to get a chance to drive the new M5 today. It's a phenomenal car. I had a chance to have a blast down the M69 too. It feels completely planted and no twitching at all. The power just keeps on coming. It's a weapon! On my way back we went down some A roads so had a chance to switch between 4wd Sport and 2wd. The interior is refined and comfortable. I like the new digital dash. Very impressed with the whole package. Wow just wow! It's not cheap. The one I test drove was £103k but who pays full price for a BMW? A few years down the line this could be a bargain.

I’m not surprised you could drive a good discount, a good friend just got 10k off a Bmw 140i, list was a tad under 40k... so paid 30k !

When I was looking at M3s & M4s when researching the Quad, discounts of 18-20% were easy to get without negotiation. I would hope it wouldn’t be so easy on a brand new model like this. I could be tempted with an M5 at some point.

I think the market is flooded with cars coming off pcp deals , last time I looked there where hundreds of m4s for sale.

Yes the sales guy did say not much off these and they are limiting numbers but we shall see!

I think it looks really dull but the performance is fantastic. If they add the switchable 4wd to the next generation M3 it will be great. The Heads Up Display is one thing I miss on the Porsche.

Had one of these last weekend and was pretty unimpressed. I'd much rather have a Mercedes Benz E63 AMG 4 Matic 'S' which was far more fun and characterful than this M5.

All told I've had 12-14 'M' cars (last one an M2) but they leave me cold these days and in that class AMG is where it's at - assuming the lure of a Porsche isn't there!
