Mission E is definitely a "halo" car rather than serious competition for Tesla or Jaguar EVs. My feeling is that Porsche are going to concentrate on hybrids for the next decade, especially in their SUVs. The gamble for them is whether or not their conservative customer base will prefer the alternative full EVs. If Jaguar build enough of them to meet demand I reckon the iPace will steal more than the odd Macan sale over the next couple of years. Tesla's model X now sells roughly in the same volume as the Cayenne across Europe too. Porsche are possibly going to have to rethink their strategy more than most as they are in the premium market where people are more likely to consider a cutting edge EV. They certainly lost my business in the large SUV market this year and I'm a big Porsche fan in general. But then again, maybe there's enough of a market for both hybrids and EVs for everyone to be served. Then there's the Audi etron range coming up. Seems like VAG has decided that Audi is the more appropriate badge to stick on their EV range?
Some E xciting developments coming 18/19
Remember Germany’s target for the switch to EVs is 2030.
So Porsche does not have that long to design and switch over its whole range of cars.
VW Golf sales alone are 1M per annum hence all the VW Group has to be fully geared to the changeover.

With the ever increasing influence of everyone’s future market - China with their aggressive EV policy - all established makers will up their game.
I think Porsche’s entry into Formula E will prompt a very definite shift in their marketing with a view to priming their customer base. They’re already putting a lot out re Mission E and the E Cross and this activity will surely increase as their participation approaches.

Notice the distinct lack of physical buttons that everyone seems so defensive about. I wonder how much they will tame it down for production? Or are they going to ignore the old men and just do it like the concept? I do hope the latterCol Lamb wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 5:29 pm So Porsche design boring interiors do they!
Check out.

The Bentley quilted panels in that aftermarket conversion look ridiculously out of place in a Tesla! May as well add a period analogue mantelpiece clock for good measureDandock wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 5:40 pm On the other hand there’s this. .
