Just seen on the Beeb news that the next season of Top Gear will be the Yanks last.

Great news as it gives the Beeb chance to change the Production line up and create a new format hopefully concentrating on cars and not stunts.

Hopefully Rory and Chris will remain.

Agreed. Not bothered about Rory, but would be a huge shame if Chris left the show.

I suspect it's more the overall show and the concept that is under question rather than individual presenters. I like both Top Gear and Grand Tour but they both have a lot of reinventing to do.

Why do you think Clarkson made a nice wee job for himself on Millionaire?

I always preferred the old, original Top Gear - no silly stunts, no silly challenges; just cars and technology.

I think the time is long overdue for completely refreshing the format. And therein lies the challenge.

I think format is OK - it is the forced "chemistry" that lets it down, when the new Top Gear was working well things just flowed, but sometimes Clarkson in particular wouldn't let a joke go or it felt very scripted and they weren't good actors (similar for TG). The latest BBC version just feels scripted with poor actors/writers rather than presenters natural banter
