Like many, I didn't like the rear only privacy on Macan No 1 (an ex demo car), but when I ordered Macan No2, it was standard windows all round. My plan was always to have them darkened but the same all round, to the max I could get away with on the front, same on the rears. Such a better look and good for the extra UV protection claimed.
However when it came to the black Panamera, I considered the rear window tints were inadequate so had them done to full black and the fronts done as dark as I could get away with, in fact a bit darker. I love the look. So it depends on the car shape how they suit, and personal taste of course.

This is interesting... I was talking to a friend yesterday who had a broken windscreen recently in a Mondeo. The first question he was asked was whether it was insurance or self pay. Insurance could be done in the next 2 weeks, self pay would be 3-4 months. Potentially you could be a bit stuck if you weren't insured i.e. had only third party insurance.
+1. My Rhodium Silver looks great with the PG treatment combined with silver alloyls and chrome trim. Also good for no sun glare into the eyes for low height children in the rear seats, especially those that don't wear sunglasses!happy days wrote: ↑Mon Jun 18, 2018 11:10 am It depends on the colour of the car too. Our silver car suits the darkened windows I think.
All black (wheels, trim, roof rails) or a dark body colour then I wouldn't want it.

Agree completely and last 7 cars all had it. None of my cars were or are black so avoided the van look.SAC1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 18, 2018 9:53 pm+1. With kids in the back all the time it’s a box I always tick on all cars.

Love the privacy glass, would always want it cannot understand why anyone would not, especially if you have kids in the back.

Privacy glass would be useful for me - getting changed in the back seat (changing from long trousers to shorts, as the weather warms up/or changing from kilt to trousers after playing at a gig ......... I play and teach the Scottish Highland pipes in London and Surrey). Looking forward to getting the new, 'facelifted' Macan in October.
That is the best reason I've heard so far for PG, I'm sure you want to be besieged by groupiesRAA wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 11:31 am Privacy glass would be useful for me - getting changed in the back seat (changing from long trousers to shorts, as the weather warms up/or changing from kilt to trousers after playing at a gig ......... Hi stallturn
- addressing your question of "doing it" rather than the "merits of otherwise" of PG....
How adventurous do you want to be ?
I've spent { too much } time over the years messin' with cars, including travelling to buy eBay treasures, but my approach would be:
1) Sourcing the glass pieces:
- Audi dealers: very do-able, but expensive.
Alternatives would include sourcing from breakers , local or national. I searched just now for 'S4 Avant breaking' for example, and found this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-S4-A4-B ... SwCV5Z1fMQ
I know it says saloon, but the picture is an Avant..
Some 'bonded' glass pieces may be difficult / impossible to cut out of the donor vehicle without damage - the scrappers would know, or perhaps search for Audi S4 Forums and ask the question.....
It might be necessary to source new window rubbers to refit used glass - a few £10's compared to the dealer cost of new glass
2) Fitting the glass pieces - new from dealer or second hand glass
a) DIY - often not as difficult as you might imagine, especially door window glass
b) enquire at (smaller) car body repair / accident damage workshops.
The bigger car body repair places / main dealer linked are likely to be too expensive and also not interested in 'unusual' repairs. They also usually sub-contract in Autoglass or similar
Smaller places are often more multi-skilled, versatile, and will quote for work based on their time & materials (and not just the "repair book time" from the insurance approved quotation systems)
3) Google search for independent Audi repair specialists / dip into Audi forums
--------
There is nothing particularly complicated about glass fitting (I've done some).
But it will take time and effort (and messin' ) to get an affordable, non dealer/Autoglass solution....
