I wish....we were 4 up with all the cases around Vegas and to the Canyon and 6 up with luggage around Tampa

We'll be there in a couple of weeks hopefully in a Mustang GT. As we're only 2 up we can get away with the space limitations

Good luck with that, most frightening car I've ever driven on the Freeway cloverleaves.
Perhaps they are not live axle now

I know what you mean, the first one we ever rented was back in the 90s and it was truly scary. Handled and braked like a battleship, frightened the wife eveytime we used a freeway on/off ramp even at 30 MPH. We've had a few of the latest gen cars in the last couple of years and they're actually not too bad.

A Suzuki Jimny is our regular transport in Barbados, not as much fun as a hatchback but pretty good on unmade and poorly maintained roads. Maybe I should get one for over here as well
+1 for the Jimny. I hired one in Crete on holiday once. Battered old thing, guy at the hire shop didn't even bother taking a deposit or credit card. Didn't even want to see my driving licence (it's The Cretan Way, I think) Took it all round the mountain dirt tracks with sheer drops and shrines everywhere. It was a proper hoot! Went over anything and put a massive smile on my face. I seriously considered buying one when I got home.
BigPhil.

I've done that trip in a Dodge Durango 5.9l V8 - great trip, terrible car for all the reasons above.

I like that the Dodge Durango link in the above post from @MacanArif goes here:

"Link added by VigLink" so maybe it's another form of embedded adword-styke advertising?
[edit: seems to be - it's added after the forum page is loaded]

Switched from AdBlock Plus to uBlock Origin (for various other reasons) and this is now blocked.
~Zarquon forbid what this page would look like without any kind of ad and privacy abuse filter!
