The 919's Hybrid Eco is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged V4 supplemented by two energy recovery systems. The engine drives the rear wheels, while the electric motor, powered by harvested brake and exhaust energy, drives the front axle. Total power output is 1160 bhp.
It hit a top speed of 230 mph [366 kph] and achieved an average speed of 148 mph [237 kph] for the record breaking best lap time of 5 minutes and 19.546 seconds.....in fact Bernhard broke 35 year old outright record, held previously by a 959 Group C car, a total of 3 x consecutive times; laps of 5:31 and 5:24 were recorded before the final attempt of 5:19 was set.
