Just seen a report that £800 worth of damage has been done to a public charging point in Speyside.

It would seem that opening the socket flap and putting in a certain popular sweet product and then closing the flap causes said damage to occur.

Disclaimer.
Said sweet product was a Creme Egg, other similar products are available but may not have the same effect.

Ah! the joys of public recharging points - the Russian roulette of vandalised? fully working? or just does it have the right plug socket for my EV?

If it is working, that assumes someone else hasn't parked up and left their car plugged in for several hours after it was actually replenished!!

Perhaps there will be a need to employ EV-point police.....

The beggars belief for me is also .... why on earth did the designers of public charging systems not include some kind of electronic (or otherwise) lock on the actual charging point. Swipe a contactless card and the hatch opens the gives access to the socket

It was probably designed in a country where mindless vandalism is not a problem :?

There are 36 houses on our street and two lamp posts! It could prompt a war!

Boxing clubs should do well when punch ups over who is entitled to use the only serviceable CP first become commonplace.
