Not being a Macan owner anymore it's been a while since I last posted.. Although I do visit the forum frequently. Wondered what people thought of the new 992.. https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/spy-shots ... d-details/

Glad I have a 991.2.. not sold on that wrap around rear light.
Although it does work reasonably well on the new Macan IMO, even though the design of it instantly reminds me of a Breathrite strip LOL. (strange how the mind works..)

Also not a fan of the more angular front end of the 992.. perhaps it'll be more promising in the flesh, but first impressions don't have me lusting after the "new" 911.. looks like my current 911 could be a keeper. Which would save some pennies!

A 911 is a 911 is a 911.

Yes, they are great but seen one 911 and you have seen them all.

As a 991.2 owner I couldn’t agree more but I think that is kind of natural. We all think we’ve bought the right model but really there is no wrong model. In the car park at my golf club today I saw a 993, 996, 2x997s, 2x991s (including mine) and they all looked great

Was it Clarkson or Hammond who said that a Porsche designer was the laziest job in the world?!
Nonetheless, I’d still have one!😉

Can't say I disagree with anything that's been said, my father who took delivery of a 16 plate C2S Cab from Leeds OPC two months ago expressed the same opinion as me, but we both agree, a 911 is a 911 and is almost unique in that it's not the sort of car that is instantly regarded as an older less desirable model when replaced by a new one unlike most other mainstream cars except for exotics. My only real gripe is that the entire Porsche range has now got that exact same wrap around style rear light design which to me doesn't work as well as it did on the original 70's-80's air cooled 911s.. at least on the 991 AWD models it was far less obvious. All personal taste of course and it'll sell just as well as any other 911 I'm sure.
Only wish mine was more reliable... since delivery end of March.. a coolant leak, cracked water pump and another hereto unknown fluid leak still under investigation.. Apart from that, absolutely love it!

No doubt everyone will be slagging it off and saying you have to have the 992.2. Much like the 991.x
Used to have 2016 Macan Turbo PHCKCL70
Previously a 2014 Macan Turbo.
Now a 2021 Tesla Model 3 LR

No slagging a 911 from me, they are good motors but they do zilch for me regarding the desire to own one.

Now, no offence intended but, 911, 996, 911.23456780, 997 do you not think its a bit sad getting so hung up on different permutations?

Its still a 911 and there are plenty of other marques cars in the same class that look far superior to the aged look that is a 911.

To each there own.

You should see some of the other cars there: yesterday alone there was a Ferrari 599 (butt ugly car), DB11, V8 Vantage and probably 6 Macans. It's neither a particularly expensive nor exclusive golf club but it is arguably the best in the region and holds PGA events so has a very good reputation for its courses.

The thing with 911's is that they are so easy to live with and to use as an everyday car, yet sporty when you want to. Perhaps that's why they are so popular. They are also the most recognisable cars on the roads. They are expensive, but not compared to similar cars with similar practicality from other manufacturers. That's my three pence. 😎
