Sick 911

Well its happened, the 911 GTS is sick. After a bit of a spirited north coast drive on Sunday the GTS was parked up in the back of the workshop. Monday morning I moved it outside as I had a bit of welding to do and found a little pool of something on the floor where the 911 had been. At first I thought it was just a bit of water from the exhaust but on closer inspection it felt slippy so I though oil. I checked around the engine as best I could without a lift and could find nothing. I contacted the OPC and took it up so they could have a check. Once up on the lift the problem was very obvious, coolant dripping from a pump at the rear of the engine just in front of the exhaust system. It only seems to leak when warm and pressurised so thats why I didn't find anything when I checked the car out a day later. Far from the end of the world as its an easy change so will be sorted in next to no time. Belfast actually had another 991.2 up on another lift which also needs a water pump so it seems to be a common problem on this engine so keep an eye fellow 911ers

The Macan is a brilliant car especially a GTS, but still a patch on a 911. :D

Didn't see you around the north coast sadly. There was a tasty grey 911 GTS in Portstewart but it was a bit gazzumped by a beautiful white Ferrari 488.

First tell tail signs are stains on a little water 20mm pipe that runs from the pump just in front of the exhaust siliencer

As Rab J says, keep an eye on the coolant level (words to that effect).. my fathers 5k mile 991.2 C2S Cab has also recently suffered major coolant loss.. probably all coincidence.. perhaps this hot weather has played a part.. but it does remind me of Tuscan ownership.. :?
