I am thinking about buying a used 911 Carrera S (991.2). The vendor has kindly provided me with all sorts of documentation, from which I have gleaned that the car was first 'owned' by Porsche Group Operations Centre PRG, Reading in late 2015.
However, it's first registration (from the V5) was to a private owner in April 2016, some 4 months later.
This makes me suspicious, but I'm not sure what of. Questions:

- What might explain the gap between import and first registration?
- Who/what is Porsche Group Operations Centre PRG?

My worry is that it was used as a track car at the Silverstone PEC. Are the cars there road registered? Don't they keep them longer than 4 months? If it was at the PEC, what kind of mileage might it rack up in 4 months.

Answers/theories welcome.

Maybe it was a showroom car for a few months and is that just another name for Porsche's GB HQ, co-located with OPC Reading?

The PEC cars are already registered so it won't be one of those. My guess is that it was a showroom car for a few months and registered after that.

Maybe worth phoning your local OPC and asking them. Mention that you are buying a private sale 911 but will use them for future servicing

They should be able to explain the history of the car ?

Armed with the chassis number and registration number, you could always ring Porsche, Reading dealership and ask them if they have a record of those 4 months.

It's also not that unusual for buyers to delay registration for the new number plate although I would think waiting until April a little odd.

Mileage on first private registration? I would assume it wasn't just a showroom car if over 1000.

The V5 says the car was new at first registration, which I assume to mean that were only delivery miles were on the clock.
I think the suggestion that it was a showroom car is a good one.
