My thinking is that if I see a second had car and the inevitable small imperfections before buying I could would live with it, but if I bought unsight unseen even the smallest thing wold bug me.

Tell me more lol.

I take the view that anything mechanically is covered by the warranty and is an easy fix, bodywork and interior is less so, so i always ask for a full description of any defects.
I am not bad with a machine polisher so can correct most paintwork defects with time and I have found that when you ask people specific questions they tend to be very hard on their own car :-)

I bought my Quad unseen with just the balance on collection. There were definitely imperfections in the paintwork that the camera and pictures hadn’t picked up. These were due to the car being washed very carelessly. I had the car detailed after I got it and it then looked probably better than new. I wouldn’t be put off if from a good dealer.

I bought a Z3 from Milton Keynes unseen - I got a university pal who lived close by to test drive it for me. Flew over to collect it a few days later. I also bought a 986 Boxster S from Belfast OPC too, but with no test drive (wife did that) as I had a little too much the night before! I did see it though...
