There was only one 918 in Belfast from my memory - there were other cars on show from the same owner's collection but just the one blue 918.
Just looked at the pics - you're absolutely right. The silver was a Carerra GT. I'd only ever seen one of those before - in Barcelona.

Way back in 1988 we were over in the USA on holiday and as we were walking past a Porsche OPC I noticed one of these parked out front amongst all the other cars, it was sort of strange that it was not on a specific sole pride of place display in the showroom.

The 959 was at the time the fastest production car, 444 bhp and 1450kg gave it a top speed of between 197 and 210 depending upon version. It was a 2.8 Twin Turbo with 4WD and the model started as a homologation road car so it was effectively the model that started the Turbo and 4WD era.

These cars are nice and it is always a thrill to see them on the road. In fact there is a guy who I've seen park up a 959 in Mayfair. Very nice. Nonetheless, a head turner for me will always be a mint 356 Speedster. I love those cars. If I had the money, it'd go on one of those.

Agreed.

The really annoying thing is my Brother who used to be a Mechanic in a VW/Porsche garage used to take a train or hitch hike to the Porsche compound down south and then he would drive them back up to Lancashire for a customer.

So the cars only had very carefulyl driven delivery mileage on them. :D

It certainly started the Porsche 4WD era, but the Turbo was already well established in the 930 a decade earlier. Back in the day I thought the 959 was perfectly proportioned, but today it looks hideous to my eyes - especially the rear. I much prefer the classic 911 look or the 993 this car clearly inspired.

There is a guy round the corner from me that owns two 918s - one white, one grey! I asked how he managed to get two and apparently when they first came out no-one wanted them and this guy ended up buying two. As he is part of a special 918 group - apparently you join an exclusive club and you are in the club as long as you still own a 918. Out of the original 918 owners there are about 500 left worldwide. Once you are part of the exclusive 918 club you get offered other cars directly by Porsche - each 918 owner was offered a GT3 RS, so this guy got offered two 991.1 GT3 RS! I think he took one and sold the other.
Current:
992 Turbo (July 23)
MG4 EV Trophy Long Range
VW Caravelle 6.1 4motion DSG
Suzuki Swift Sport

Previous Macan SD, Macan Turbo, Macan Turbo, 991.1 C4GTS coupe, 996 C4S coupe, Macan Turbo, 991.2 C4GTS coupe; 991.2 GT3; 992 C2S; 991.1 Turbo S
