As far as I know Porsche don't and haven't made a diesel engine, but someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

When we toured the Zuffenhausen factory in June last year we saw flat and V petrol engines being built and were told they assemble all the petrol engines for Porsche cars.

Yes. It has been a case of engineering rebadging diesel engines from other VAG brands
Genuine Question: was the 4 litre diesel in the Panamera used in any other VAG group car? I thought all other VAG big diesels were the Audi 4.2L V8.

In any event, 0-100mile/h in 10s is a result unlikely to be seen again with a diesel power unit and I still think that's a shame.
I took a recent Panamera SD on a long (over 300 mile) test drive and it was an awesome cruiser! Literally felt like the Starship Enterprise on warp drive!

Had they offered the D, rather than SD (an extra £20k) I'd have been seriously tempted! Great car! :)

Bentley Bentayga and Audi SQ7 both have a 4l V8 diesel so I'd assume it's the same engine.

In that case bring Macan with boxer-motor... followed by EV
Blume said that going forward, Porsche wanted to focus on products it was good at: "It's emotional, powerful petrol cars and hybrids and from 2019 this will also include all-electric vehicles."

Although, he also said...

“Porsche is not demonising diesel. It is, and will remain, an important propulsion technology,” Porsche Chief Executive Oliver Blume said in a statement.

implying that VW / Audi / Skoda / Seat may continue with diesels for a good while yet (unless he was simply referring to ships / trains / trucks which, if course, are allowed to carry on polluting for the time-being 😉😂)

Arse covering comment if you ask me, given their VAG position.
