I have no recommendation apart from some chips away operatives work from a workshop and not outside open to the elements, found a local one in Dartford, his prices seemed no dearer and he made a first class repair for me, worth a thought while you are shopping around.
Thank you. I have now made contact with a local Chips Away guy here in Swindon. He has his own workshop and has been operating since 2005. He seems to have good reviews too. And as a bonus, his premises are literally just around the corner from me! Less than half a mile from my front door!

I got an estimate from a traditional body shop of £800 including VAT, removing the bumper & replacing all the badging etc. :o

Cheers,

Hope the repair is good. A "before" and "after" photo would be good too.

Perhaps you should make an appointment with specsavers too

Thanks! I’ll post an update on here next week, after I’ve spoken to the local Chips Away guy. (He’s currently on holiday.)

It doesn’t bother me that much. Hence not having had it sorted for nearly 2 years. ;)
However, when I do come to sell or trade it in, the damage would certainly get picked up on, so I may as well get it fixed now, rather than leaving it for longer. I figure the longer I leave it, the harder it might be to get a reasonable repair done. 🤔

If you expect to trade in via OPC I would suggest a bumper respray otherwise a significant sum will be deducted from your valuation for them to respray your smart repair for the next owner.

Thanks. I have no current plans to sell/trade in. When I do, I may well do so via an independent rather than an OPC. This would likely be after the three year warranty has expired.

Now booked in on the 26th for a repair at my local ChipsAway. Seems a very decent bloke. Been doing it for 15 years and has a very professional approach. 🤓

Don't forget to post the after photos! ChipsAway are a franchise so results are dependant on the skill of the individual you end up dealing with. It sounds as though you've found a good one.

A few years ago I had a ChipsAway repair on another car and was very impressed. In a previous life I worked in a spray shop and I couldn't tell that the car had had a smart repair.
