Further to my separate post, when I took my Carrera T into the OPC today, on handover we discovered that my car had suffered a nasty scratch at some point, probably in the last couple of weeks. The OPC guys said it looked deliberate, probably done with a knife or key.
Very annoying and frustrating.
For reference, the scratch is about 3.5cm long.
Any thoughts on the best way of getting this sorted?
Obviously the service guy at the OPC mentioned their body shop - Dick Lovett Spraymaster in Swindon, but am wondering if some kind of ‘smart repair’ might be realistic?
Any thoughts (constructive) will be welcomed.
Bodywork scratch - advice appreciated.

First thought it looks pretty deep for a smart repair, but I'm certainly no expert on paint. Some very jealous people around too, sad to see.
B@stards!
“luckily” in the plastic bumper (?) so no corrosion issues......
Worth getting a smart repairer to take a look - a bit of heat on a flat blade will “heal” the gash but whether they’ll get an acceptable finish will depend on the skill of the operative.
Having said that, Lovetts will probably want £300 + to paint it so I suppose it’s worth trying a smart repair first if it costs less than £100 ish?

Thanks, Paul. Yes, that makes a lot of sense.Paul wrote: ↑Wed Oct 17, 2018 8:40 pm B@stards!

Agree that it looks very deep for a smart repair but as it’s on a plastic bumper the heat treatment should be feasible. If that works it’s probably £100 - £150 to sort.
Looks like it was done with a knife which is incomprehensible to me

From my completely untrained eye that looks quite deep and may require sanding right the way back to the panel. Personally, I doubt that's a smart repair job but worth having it checked out. You're then into whether the paint can be blended in to the existing colour and I just don't think you could do it on this without always knowing it's there. You may find that the repair quote v the whole panel quote is cheaper but for a few hundred quid extra, choose the more extensive respray. Sorry.

WC - once again sorry that a lowlife scum got to your car. I am wondering if even a sensor operated dashcam would have been helpful, when as you say it might have happened weeks ago. Hope a repair can be done with the desired result for a reasonable amount.
