There is a nice Fender guitar on a deal at a massive Music Instrument Shop in Blackburn that is tempting me.

I've never bought anything on 'Black Friday'. The very expression makes me cringe.

I just bought an iPhone XR for my son from John Lewis. £30 off and it comes with a 2 year guarantee.

My business was accused of being racist last year for offering Black Friday deals...
As a retailer offering genuine discounts I actually hate Black Friday and would like to see it abolished.. but I fear it's here to stay.

Another 'Merican influence. It'll soon be that every weekend has a commercial significance. Let's start with the New Year, then we have Valentine's Day, St Patrick's Day, Easter, National holidays, all the mid term breaks (poor teachers, can't work six weeks without having a week off...), summer, Mother's Day. Father's day, Hallow'een. Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas (or Holidays these days, so as not to offend the sensitive souls amongst us)...

The list is endless. Thankfully, me and Beloved are not commercial at all, and buy gifts for each other (usually holidays or nice wine) when WE want to, not when advertisers tell us we have to.

I agree totally with the anti-Black Friday imported American Trumped up (see what I did there?) marketing crap we have to endure being banned. If I want something, I go and buy it when I want it and pay what I feel is fair. My Wife on the other hand is suckered into anything that is 'on offer'. Her life revolve around buying stuff and taking it back a day or two later, without me in attendance.

I can do our grocery shop in 30-35 minutes, not three hours. I have bought a delicious Pheasant breast and pint of Weetwoods Cheshire Cat today at lunch with a few mates.

Footnote: The beer was not named in my honour.
