Yes this is a new model and the change that happened between 991.1 and 991.2 was probably one of the biggest things to happen during what would be considered to be a mid life update.
Current:
992 Turbo (July 23)
MG4 EV Trophy Long Range
VW Caravelle 6.1 4motion DSG
Suzuki Swift Sport

Previous Macan SD, Macan Turbo, Macan Turbo, 991.1 C4GTS coupe, 996 C4S coupe, Macan Turbo, 991.2 C4GTS coupe; 991.2 GT3; 992 C2S; 991.1 Turbo S

Yes there have been some major changes but like the 996 and 997 were on the same basic structure which was only changed for the 991, the 992 uses the 991 structure. It could be argued that the 991.1 to 991.2 engine and drive train was a bigger change than the 991 to 992, which is more cosmetic. Nothing wrong with that, its just how 911s have been developed for many years now.

Peteski wrote: Thu Dec 06, 2018 10:21 am Looks more like change just for the sake of it, at least in the styling. As much as I love the 911, this just looks like a marketing exercise rather than genuine evolution. But I'll reserve judgement until comparing the driving experience. I'm sure they will have made some progress under the skin, but the cosmetic changes are totally neutral for me. I guess that was the design brief too!
I think we have to remember that this is a major update rather than a completely new model so the changes were always going to be relatively minor
The question is whether or not it's a genuine step forward over the 991 and for me the largely pointless cosmetic tweaks we see here are merely a distraction from any changes that actually might make a real difference to the driving experience. The interior looks a bit disappointing at first glance with its retro analogue/digital mash-up. I see even the pointless dash wart has survived yet another generation too! But all this could pale into insignificance if it drives better than the 991.

So I'm looking forward more to the test drive reports as there's really nothing to see here as far as I'm concerned, unless you had just arrived from Mars and had never seen a 911 before!

From the interior shots it looks like they'll have to reposition the PCM screen for the RHD models. I suppose the good news from this is that at least it should then be orientated (tilted) towards the driver rather than the passenger (as in the legacy Macan). It's a pet hate of mine!

Question for (RHD) 991 owners: Is your PCM screen tilted very slightly towards your front seat passenger?
I don't think there is any tilt one way or another as far as I can ascertain.
Thanks - must just be the Macan then! When I ordered mine I sat for ages in the Macan in the Mayfair showroom trying to ascertain whether the screen tilted to the left or not; it definitely does! :x

Got a finance settlement figure through the post today. It stated my OPC had requested it, I certainly didn’t. I’ve had no further contact from my OPC since Tuesday, so I’m assuming they didn’t like what they saw

I think there are enough changes with the 992 and I think it looks good. Especially the interior.
No need to make too much of a change from what is already an awesome car.
Not sure about the gear lever though 😮. Actually I am sure. I don’t like it
Not sure about the cup holder either but hopefully an option to remove?

The new dash layout is modern and also keeping with some tradition which I think will suit most people. The new switches look awesome.

I think the 991.2 is so good it becomes a hard act to follow.
Let’s see how the 992 drives but for me I will wait for the GTS 😀. (I like ticking boxes on the configurator so always makes sense 😀)

Just a few new items below. Plenty of other tweaks too out there I am sure.

New 8 speed PDK
New Tech
Night vision assist
New interior
Wet mode
Nice flush door handles
Some more power 😀
GTS 😀

Personally I'm not so sure about the new dash, its a bit bland and not very driver focused for a sports car.

Much more Panamera (big sporty GT saloon) rather than 911 (iconic two door sports car).

Yes very much my thoughts Wing, It has four seats but still suposed to be a sports car I though. It just gives too much dash to the passenger who's job in my thinking is to sit there and be scared, not get involved in the driving process by reading the dash.
