A man and woman have been arrested after an alleged carjacking saw a Porsche plough into a police car yesterday - leaving four people in hospital.

A major search was launched after a woman was allegedly threatened and robbed of her Porsche Macan in Glasgow’s Hyndland area at around 6.30pm on Wednesday.

The force helicopter and traffic officers attempted to trace the sports car - which retails for around £45,000 - for several hours before it was involved in a crash with a marked police Audi in the Temple area at 12.10am yesterday.

The two male officers in the car were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated following the crash on Fulton Street, but were released soon after.

A 26-year-old man and 22-year-old woman who were allegedly in the Porsche were also treated for minor injuries at the hospital before being arrested.

The scene of the crash, just yards from Knightswood Primary School, was locked down by emergency crews following the collision.

Police Scotland said “extensive” resources were deployed and “specialist officers” had been drafted in to search for the luxury car.

A spokeswoman said: “A number of further incidents involving this vehicle were reported to police and extensive enquires and searches were carried out by officers assisted by a number of resources including road policing and the force helicopter.

“About 12.10am the Porsche was involved in a road crash with a marked police Audi in Fulton Street in Glasgow.

“The occupants of the Porsche, a 26-year-old man and 22-year-old woman, were also treated for minor injuries.

“They have been arrested in connection with the incident and police enquires are continuing.”

 That's a long test drive.

Seriously though, how did that happen? Doors locked during driving and when parked. Sounds nasty.

I wonder if the Porsche insurance end up paying any third party claims involved?

Many a true word - as they say.

Back in the days of Red Star (the British Rail delivery service not the Serbian football team!) we had a client - an optician - in Glasgow to whom we'd sent a parcel. I then phoned to inform him of the train arrival time. He wasn't in and the girl who'd answered asked if he could call me back....

"...and where are you calling from?"
"Manchester"
"Oooo, he'll noo call you there!"

QED! :o
