Top Speed 90mph Col - naturally aspirated rear wheel drive (when not in 4wd mode), so very similar to my GT3.

Hope you are well Ian - will keep the Porsches too!Spud wrote: βSat Dec 08, 2018 8:09 amHi Arif, hope you are keeping well, you will miss the 991MacanArif wrote: βFri Dec 07, 2018 10:51 pm This may sound a bit odd from someone that has been obsessed with Porsches the last few years but a couple of weeks ago I ended up in the Suzuki garage and ordered a new Suzuki Jimny.
I just love the quirky funky nature of this new model which is being released in January 19. The styling looks like a mini G wagon and it's a proper off roader:

Of course it will be compromised on the road because of it's ladder frame suspension but I figure it might be a lot of fun on the rough stuff.
Apparently Japan has gone mad for it and there is a 5 year waiting list over there. Here there is going to be delivery of about 600 cars in the first 6 months. I'm deposit number 5 at my local dealer so if you want one get in there quick.
I figure it will be very strong in terms of residuals and may end up being over list in the first year or so.

Hi Arif- great little car, I looked into it but was put off by the 3 star euro NCAP rating https://www.motor1.com/news/266587/toua ... euro-ncap/MacanArif wrote: βFri Dec 07, 2018 10:51 pm This may sound a bit odd from someone that has been obsessed with Porsches the last few years but a couple of weeks ago I ended up in the Suzuki garage and ordered a new Suzuki Jimny.

Another option for serious off roading is the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Of course you can buy several Jimnys for the price of one Rubicon!
There are some good videos on You Tube of Rubicons on the Rubicon trail in the US. Now that is serious off roading.

Yes Mavg I saw the Euro NCAP rating but weighed it all up and still probably think it will be OK.
On-track the Rubicon does look awesome but as you point out different price point. The brief for this purchase was 'cheap additional car' - price range for jimmy is going to be 16-19k so looks like really good value and I figure depreciation is going to be fairly low too.

It certainly looks a fun car.
There is one often parked on one of the main roads I travel along to get into Town they have an older version and they are certainly not a prolific car on the road.
I presume its going to be your new commuter?

Great little cars, I got mine up to 150k before the gearbox died, due to all short journeys really.
It did plenty of off road work and coped with a lot of abuse.
If you want to go off road get some decent tyres, they transform the performance.
Tried to replace it with another used one but someone in Cyprus was buying them all.
Small engine so if you use it off road look ahead and get busy with the gear lever, essential corollary of that is you'll be looking at great fuel economy and it will cruise at 80 all day if required.
