Sign of things to come?

“Tesla drastically increases Supercharger prices around the world”

https://electrek.co/2019/01/18/tesla-in ... er-prices/

Tesla doesn’t want to make money from supercharging (so they say) but instead use the money to expand the network. But that’s at odds with the reality that most people will charge at home where it’s cheaper and much better for the battery’s health.

I suppose Tesla guinea pigs that bought in early and have free supercharging must be pleased.

All the chatter on the investment channels last week was of the reduction in workforce numbers due to poor sales. This seems at odds with the supposed long waiting lists and issues producing enough 3s per week.

Don't think poor sales was the reason at all. The driving force was the need to proceed to the essential next stage of the business plan, which was to produce more cars at a lower sales price, especially heading towards the entry-level version of the Model 3, which has yet to appear. Reports suggest that the 'only' workers to be dispensed with are contractors plus a substantial proportion of temps. It all looks to me like the necessary next step towards being a solvent, mass car manufacturer that plans to be still around in 20-30 years' time.

Musk does have a history of getting bored with projects and winding them back or cancelling them. Even worse at tombstoning that google.

Sounds a logical move to me.

Swamp the design, development, testing, implementaion, production and troubleshooting Depts with staff to get the whole Company up and running.

Then cut staff back to the minimum needed to achieve production quotas.

The internal bean counters and their counterparts financing Tesla will then be happy.

Seems sound to me.
