So, if new petrol-driven cars will now be fitted with a filter like the diesels were, will they also suffer with clogged filters if they mostly do short trips in city traffic ?
Supposedly, and I do mean supposedly, getting the PPF up to temperature won't be as big of a hassle as it is to get the DPF up to temperature. Petrol engines get up to temp faster than diesels so, again supposedly, the need to go on a 20 minute thrash will not be needed. That said, I have seen commentary from manufacturers that a brief stint of spirited driving may be necessary where the majority of the car's journeys are very short. So...who knows?!

We have a 2019 model 2.0i Leon FR. In 4 months of predominantly short journeys, we have had no PPF issues. Been told unlikely to be a problem by SEAT.
To presumably get best case WLTP figures, the tyre pressures are now 0.7 bar higher than the previous 1.8i Leon FR we ran. Just hope the tyres don't wear out in the centres quickly! I have put SEAT on notice as we only had to replace the front tyres at 22,000 miles on the previous model. The rears still had 4mm remaining when we traded it in at 27,000 miles....
