☹️

https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/ ... hree-years

....so the car will “see” the change of speed limit and cut the engine power accordingly....

and I see Volvo will be limiting top speeds to 112 mph in the next couple of years.

I need to buy a really fast new car now....and keep it forever!

So I guess all the eu fan boys will be pleased with this

Personally I think it is typical of politics today. Pick on the soft options and put your head in the sand to avoid all the real issues of pollution and global warming.

Well it'll force them to clean the signs. Mind you the number of times the Macan has recognised the 30mph signs at the start of roadworks but not when it ends could leave a lot of traffic stuck at 30 for some distance.

Consistently get the speed limit detection not available warning northbound on the M1 at the the start of "the national forest" anyone else?

This is real bad new for companies like Porsche - who wants a 911 with a top speed of - the speed limit your in! Imagine overtaking on a B road? You could not even get away from the light quicker than an average family hatchback as you would not be able to pull back in front of it in the distances you would cover getting to 30mph in about 1.5 seconds

I get all the safety stuff, but surely making people better drivers from the word go should be an option instead of chastising good drivers who don't keep smashing their cars up? the problem is doing it  I don't mind people driving a bit quick, it's the people who can't drive or are just blatantly rude than get my goat.

I for one (and most other on here as well I'd imagine) will buy a car without this tech on it 6 months before it all goes nipples skywards and keep it for years to come, I'm also sure in the short term a few "deregulators" will appear as the law will only be that new cars have to have it, not that you can't turn it off permanently - it will probably be a few years before they get to that stage

Ill thought out.

They are installing Smart Motorways like they are the height of fashion, they will no longer be needed

Average speed cameras are being fitted just about everywhere.

The system will have to recognise and take action on Red Traffic lights so no more going through them.

Such a loss of revenue from Prosecutions.

What about the extra unemployment, no more guys in vans with speed detectors, no more trainers on the Speed Awareness courses.

Yep, ill thought out.
