Surprising move from Audi given the negative press but you can’t argue with the power, torque and acceleration. There’s life in the old diesel dog yet. I still think Porsche dropped diesels prematurely from their SUV’s :( #banginthedrum

And now the Audi S5 switches to Diesel power:

I'd love Porsche to drop this engine into a Mk2 Macan SD but resigned to the probability it will never happen

Will never happen as it would kill all the petrol sales in one single blow.

But why is that an issue? There's nothing intrinsically wrong with selling more diesels than petrol. Rather that than lose a sale completely to a BMW or a Merc heavy-duty performance diesel. Petrol would likely still be king in other markets (US, China, Dubai etc.)

Anyway, I'm sure you're right; Porsche have decided they're a petrol/EV brand despite being an SUV company now. Perhaps EV will supersede petrol/diesel completely, but in the short-term it seems a very odd strategy to me :?
