So now it's suddenly going to be £120k for the "Turbo" version. What happened to the £60k version that was touted last year?
I won't be buying it if it is 120k! Ridiculous price point - the standard versions maybe closer to the 60k so will wait to see what they are like.
Why is that price so surprising to you guys for the “Turbo S” version of the Taycan? (With the “Turbo” around £105k, as guesstimated by Autocar.)

The Cayenne Turbo S is £123,349.

The Panamera Turbo S is £140,132!

The basic Cayenne is £57,195 and the base Panamera 4 is £72,890.

So the Cayenne Turbo S is more than double the price of the base Cayenne. And the Panamera Turbo S is nearly double the price of the lowliest Panamera.

In view of this existing pricing regime, £120k to £130k or so for the fastest & best equipped Taycan seems perfectly predictable - even good value compared to its Panamera cousin?!

And given the above ratios between Turbo S and base models, no reason why the base Taycan won’t start much lower, given that the cheapest Panamera is nearly £73k and the cheapest 911 is just under £83k. :geek:

Not sure where the £60k figure came from?

Somewhere between the starting price for Panamera and 911 would be my guess...

Yes, thought I’d stick that on for the 60th Anniversary! It was a great little car, a 1275 Cooper S, bored out to 1310 cc and with half race cam it went quite well for a road car in those days.

I'm not at all surprised at the pricing. It's just that Porsche have been touting this car at around the £60-70k mark for several years now with similar performance specs - which I never personally believed would ever happen. I've always thought it would be well north of £100k as it will prove to be.

With ICE cars it's easier to justify a huge price hike for the more powerful engines, but not sure how the £120k Turbo S would look next to a software limited £60k base car with a slightly smaller (and lighter) battery. I just don't see a much cheaper variant coming along any time soon while they are inevitably going to be production limited with the top end models.

I would have jumped on one of these at £70k with the performance levels initially promised i.e. 600 ish hp, 0-60 in around 3.2 sec etc. but now it looks like that kind of performance level will be well over £100k before adding options. The Turbo S with 700+ hp will be totally unnecessary for any sane road use given the already colossal instant torque that the Turbo should already display. But if there really is going to be a £60k base model, it would have to be severely crippled on performance to justify the expensive models.

Anyway it looks like the starting price for 2019/20 cars will be around £105k + options, which I can't really justify for my use.

The Tesla model S is circa £100k with ludicrous mode & self drive option and the model X with performance mode & extra seats is circa £110k.
I will argue Tesla have set the bench mark for both the product and the price here so I would expect a premium sports car manufacturer to come in at a slightly higher price point.
Plus, the waiting lists suggest this will sell and sell well.

Agreed, Smithy. I am confident that all versions of the Taycan will sell like hotcakes, whether it's the "Turbo S" version at £120k to £130k with PCCBs, rear axle steering, all wheel drive and all the toys, or the lower powered "base" rear wheel drive version priced (my guess) between £73k and £83k. Us mere mortals will have a very long wait to get our hands on any of these cars, that will show that Porsche have got it right again.

I also predict that the flippers will be active again, selling on low mileage Taycans at well above the retail price, sometimes with OPC assistance.
